The Shoreview property tax dollar 2010

Posted on 22. Nov, 2009 by Chris Dohman in City Council

100dollarbillThe 2010 Shoreview budget process is winding down with certification to come in December. The budget is lengthy and complex so I have decided to break it down into pieces to shed light on where Shoreview tax dollars are going. These small pieces will be called Budget Bits, quick and easy to digest.

To kick off Budget Bits here is a breakdown of where each dollar of the Shoreview property tax goes:

  • 27 cents – public safety
  • 21 cents  - parks, recreation and maintenance
  • 21 cents – replacement costs
  • 10 cents – general government
  • 8 cents – public works
  • 8 cents – debt service
  • 5 cents – all other costs
