Shoreview renews contract with Ramsey County Sheriff
Posted on 14. Dec, 2009 by Chris Dohman in City Council, Ramsey County Sheriff Department
The City of Shoreview has voted to renew the contract with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s department for the provision of law enforcement services. The new agreement will begin January 1, 2010 and cover the years 2010 through 2012 after the current contract expires at the end of 2009.
One minor change in the contract a couple years ago that continues is the districting formula which is based on how many patrol cars are covering the city. 20% of the formula is now based on calls for service. This has actually helped Shoreview reducing costs because of lower calls even though the Shoreview is the largest city.
Using the Ramsey County Sheriff’s department is an example of a cooperative agreement which has saved the city millions of dollars over the years.
Water patrol is in the city budget as a separate item and is not part of this 3 year agreement.
