The Shoreview Human Rights Commission sponsored its 16th Annual Art Poster Contest “One Community of Many Colors” for fourth grade students in Shoreview. The Art Contest commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Commission requested fourth grade teachers in Shoreview to dedicate a class period or two in December or early January to teach their students about diversity and to give their students time to create art posters. Students were asked to create posters that included people of different races and cultures interacting positively together, e.g., cooperating, sharing, playing, helping, working, or solving problems together.

Place winners and honorable mention winners received prizes and winning posters will be on display at the Shoreview Community Center through March. The Shoreview City Council are recognizing the winning students at their meeting on Monday, March 1.
