Shoreview’s seven ice rinks are done being maintained and warming houses are closed for the rest of the winter season. Snail Lake marsh area to get deer control

The Shoreview City Council has approved a contract with the Metro Bowhunters Resource Base to perform additional 2009 hunting in Shoreview to control deer populations in the Snail Lake marsh area. The City of Shoreview has approved ordinance 858, amending Shoreview city code sections 601 – (Animal Licensing & Control) and 604 – (Weapons), to provide for Wildlife Management Programs. Ramsey County commissioners appeared cool to the idea of acquiring old Army property for a regional park.
Shoreview Mayor Sandy Martin, who attended the meeting, said the future of the TCAAP property is of vital interest to her community. “We see great opportunities on this parcel, in particular for development,” she said.
